
Ryusuke Seto
Guitarist, composer, arranger.
Began classical guitar at age 9, later switched to jazz guitar.
Moved to the US in 2006 as a special scholarship student at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Graduated in 2008, majoring in jazz composition. That same year, his compositional and arranging skills were recognized with the Quincy Jones Award. Performed concerts at the Berklee Performance Center.
Ryusuke studied classical guitar under Yasuo Oshima, jazz guitar under Atsushi Katano and Tony Gaboury,
music theory under Tom Hojnacki,
and jazz composition under Scott Free.
In 2024, began collaborating with Tsugaru shamisen Koyama-ryu master Kiyotaka Koyama and Tokyo University of the Arts graduate, nagauta singer Nami Fukumura, on the “Nasu no Uta” project. Plans to release a CD in 2026 featuring compositions fusing local folk songs, nagauta and jazz.
